First up it would seem that our japanese friends have the ability to view DVD disc's from anywhere
in the world. For those of you who aren't sure what the problem here is, let me explain...
In DVD land the world is split up into 3 regions: America, Europe and Australasia. Most DVD players
can only play a certain region disc. To be able to play another region is not entitely legal.
Another feature/bug that the Playstation 2 has is that it can record DVD's onto video cassettes. This problem definately is illegal and Sony are none to pleased by this as it means Mr. Hollywood Producer is going to knock on their door with a big court case surprise for Sony.
How Sony didn't check for these flaws is weird. What's even weirder is that Sony have sent out vouchers so people can exchange their bugged Playstation 2's with newer models! Who is going to give up a Playstation 2 capable of playing DVD's from any where and the ability to record on to cassette? Not many people I'd say.
